Alpha Apes was a game development team of 5 in UiTM Malacca. During our time, we developed video game that act as a Beta Testing Gameplay of our Final-Year Project.

CHALLENGE

What started as a logo, now needed to be expanded as a branding concept. The main challenge is to expand the identity of logo into detailed direction of visual direction.

SOLUTION

Designed and redirected the logo into the brand that intergrated within media, products and events.

Edo Pro

A free-flowing brush script with only uppercase letters. Now with a professional and multilingual character set! Vic Fieger says: "The letters in Edo were hand-drawn using a thick black permanent marker with a flat head.

The head was chopped up using a box cutter to create a "brush" effect. The entire font was made while watching Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. Edo has been used by video game-makers UbiSoft in their game adaptation of the 2007 animated film Surf's Up, as well as ads for the Fuse 2006 Warped Tour.

It had turned up in such places as the cover for the US release of the manga Teru Teru x Shonen, and the logo for A&E's program, "The Cleaner."

Bringing Competitive Gaming Theme as an approach

In this rework, I approach the concept of e-Sport media for the whole Theme of the brand concept

With the Edo Pro font and design of Alpha Apes logo that represents the urban and harsh styling, I saw these as the perfect combination of a tense and competitive atmosphere of e-Sport media where it's filled with high stake play, intense emotion, and risk taking moments among the players.

Sometimes when you play games, you don't want to leave your room or that chair of yours. You want to take a break at exactly where you are.

From one gamer to another, these merchandise were designed specifically to fit that narrative. This also brings the message to the community that actually can relate to such moments.
